How do we live well with others in a polarized culture? Is civility necessary for upholding a free and flourishing society? What role do social and economic institutions play in the promotion of civility in public life? How might we recover/rediscover an ethos of civility in the public square?

At this conference, we will confront these questions as we explore the meaning of civility in public life and its various sectors. Lecture topics will include civility in the church, local politics, the market, and education.

Free and Virtuous Society conference participants will envision a new framework for examining complex problems facing our communities, one built upon a foundation of sound theological and economic reflection and ideas. Participants will network with other catalysts across the United States, ground discussions of real-world problems in religious principles, and develop leadership capacities through resources offered in each session. Participants will also join a diverse group of religious leaders, business professionals, and academics seeking to impact growth and influence human flourishing throughout our nation.

Space is limited, and conference attendance is considered by application only. This conference is ideal for everyone with a personal and/or professional interest in religion, liberty, and market-based economics. Typical conference attendees include nonprofit leaders, business professionals, pastors and religious leaders, and graduate students, but applications of all backgrounds will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Conference fees, meals, lodging, and travel will be covered for accepted applicants.
