Fr. Manuel Barrios Prieto studied philosophy and theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, obtaining a doctor of theology degree in 1998. He has been a parish priest for 20 years in the archdiocese of Madrid and episcopal delegate for Family Pastoral Care for 10 years, as well as a psychologist recognized by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations. Since 2011, Fr. Prieto has been director of the Secretariat for Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue of the Spanish Episcopal Conference and was elected general secretary of the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) in 2019.
